Letter From Our President...
Greetings and “Happy New Year” from the Trailblazers Youth Athletic Ministry, Inc. It is with great excitement and much anticipation that we prepare for our 19th season of youth track and field in the Tampa Bay area. As we put the finishing touches on the upcoming season, we always acknowledge the former athletes, families, coaches and friends who paved the way for where we are now. Many former Trailblazers are away in college or the military. Others are employed or homemakers. We thank you for setting the standard for us. Now, we have others who are competing at the high school, junior high school and or middle school levels. And yes, we even have athletes who are in elementary school, barely able to tie shoe laces, but athletes, no doubt. We don’t take for granted the opportunity that God has given us to work with these youth on an individual and a collective basis. We are proud to be a part of what God is doing during this time. To be totally honest with you, I am amazed at what has been accomplished during these years. We have changed practice sites-several times, changed uniforms-a few times, generated a team code of conduct, organized a cross country program, created a web site, and yes, even introduced our very own annual track and field experience, called The Trailblazer Invitational which occurs in March of every year. These are great changes from when and where we first began. One thing has remained though, and that is the desire to keep excelling. Some things are just better left untouched. We will not manipulate hard work, dedication and determination. We refuse to dismantle creativity, character and consistency. We shall remain anchored in respect for self and others. We acknowledge God as Lord of all, and we have never turned our backs on hard work. These are some of the characteristics that have made us who we are. It’s not because of me or any one person in particular, but it’s all of us together. It’s because of the hard work and extra effort from so many people who believe in the vision. It’s because of parents who have committed to offering their children what they know to be a wholesome experience, with concrete results that will last a lot longer than we will ever really know. It’s because of athletes who decide in their own hearts and minds, not to settle for less than all they can offer themselves. It’s because of coaches whose work doesn’t end at 7:30 p.m., when everybody else goes home for the night. It’s because the community has embraced us and decided to make themselves at home in the cause. It’s because God and Him alone is being glorified in all things. Please understand that it’s not by accident that we are where we are. It’s because of the extraordinary people, circumstances and favor that God has graced each of us with at this time in our lives. I applaud each of you and thank God for you.
I love you all,
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 1:2)
